Guitarist Brian May of Queen Fame Said He Had A Heart Attack And Was Taken to A Hospital


Guitarist of the legendary British rock band Queen updated his Instagram followers on how May has been a tough month for him and his health.

Not only did May injure his buttocks while he was tending to his garden, but he also revealed that he had suffered a heart attack.

The 72 year old musician likened the series of unfortunate events this month as a “saga” of its own, which first begins with him while he was in his garden. He said the initial MRI scan showed how he had ripped his gluts – the large buttocks muscle.

However, May said he revisited because the pain did not go away. It was only during this second visit that some of his central nerves had been compressed because of the injury. The doctors seemed to have miss this the first time around because they did not look for spine injuries.

The guitarist said his nerves had been injured much more severely than he had initially thought, and that it now made sense why he felt as if “someone was putting a screwdriver in my back”.

While most of this information had already been relayed to his fans, his revelation that he suffered a small heart attack that threatened his life was news even to the most devout fans.

May explained that the heart attack happened while he was still struggling with the backache. He explains that he felt his heart and chest tighten for well over half an hour, during which we has taken to a hospital by his doctor.

It was only at the hospital that May found out three of his arteries were blocked. He recalls how the medics treated him as an emergency patient.

May said he chose to have stents inserted rather than to go through a massive surgery. Stents are essentially tubes that opens up and gives space for the blood to circulate around the heart and thus the body.

The rock musician said that the staff did an impeccable job, saying that he couldn’t feel that anything has been inserted inside his heart after the surgery. He added that he was able to walk out of the hospital without any help and felt lively after the surgery.
