A mom was breastfeeding her 4-month-old baby while on a vacation with her husband, 4-year-old twins, and some friends.
When a stranger passed by, he demanded her to cover up.
But he didn’t say exactly what to cover, so the witty mother did something that won the internet.
34-year-old Melanie Dudley from Austin, Texas was clearly annoyed by the request, but she obliged anyway. And because the stranger wasn’t specific about which part, she threw a blanket and covered her face.
The moment was captured by Carol Lockwood and shared it on her Facebook with a caption that reads: “A friend’s daughter-in-law was told to “cover up” while feeding her baby, so she did! I’ve never met her, but I think she’s AWESOME!!!”
In the photo, Melanie is sitting outside a half-empty restaurant nursing her 4-month-old baby. One of her 4-year-old twins is next to her.
Lockwood also said, “Please share! With permission, I’ve made this post public – I’m SO over people shaming women for nursing!!!”
Lockwood also explained that it was a man who demanded Dudley to cover up, saying: “PS: To reduce speculation: it was a man who asked her to cover up, it was 90 degrees and extremely humid, and, no, she wasn’t in a Muslim country disrespecting traditions.”
Her post immediately went viral, with 127k reactions, 18k comments, and over 217k shares!
