Kayla Becerra’s parents’ house became the setting for a highly astonishing moment as her father went inside to get something and returned to find both the dogs drenched, which prompted him to check his security camera.

Smokey and Remus were playing in the backyard when the former fell into the pool, leaving the latter in a struggle which fortunately ended well for both of them.

Surprisingly, the incident occurred in the same week when another brave dog was honored with a statue for saving the lives of 12 people. A big week for rescue dogs, huh!

This other dog was honored because of her efforts during the earthquake of September 2017 in Mexico City which had a Richter scale magnitude of 7.1 and took the lives of nearly 400 people.

Frida the Labrador was a member of the Mexican navy’s canine unit whose duty was to help find people trapped in the rubble. All in all, she saved 12 lives and was honored by the Mexican government by erecting a bronze statue.

The ceremony took place in Puebla City’s ecological park. Frida was at the ceremony donning little boots, protective goggles, and a jacket much like the uniform her bronze version was wearing.

After the installation, she came in front of the statute and pressed her nose as though looking for scraps and scratches, once satisfied she gave the statue a pat in the back as if calling her a good girl.

To add the cherry on the top, Frida was also painted on a mural near Mexico City and is now forever immortalized.

Frida reportedly showed a lot of characteristics of good performance in the field from a very young age. She possessed all qualities needed in a search dog like a good smelling sense and a natural hunting instinct.

This smart 8-year-old has helped the city force in countless rescue missions ever since she was only 2 years of age.

She will be put up for adoption upon retirement where potential applicants will obviously have to go through a strong competition against her current handler and friend, Emmanuel Hernandez.

Frida, Remus, and countless other brave dogs deserve every bit of praise that comes their way!
