Two young boys got robbed at gunpoint, presumably by older teens, as they were selling lemonade at a stand outside an Illinois home.
The shocking incident occurred in Peoria, Illinois, where Jude Peterson, 13, was selling lemonade together with his friend outside his family home.
As seen in the surveillance footage, two older males wearing hoodies approached Jude and his friend after crossing the street.
According to one of the 13-year-old boys, one of the attackers then pulled out what appeared to be a handgun before stealing their cash and running away.
As the two young teens explained after the robbery, they have been running a lemonade stand outside the Peoria home throughout the summer. At the time of the robbery, they allegedly had some $30 in their cash box.
Despite the heartbreaking incident, the two friends decided not to give up on their lemonade stand and resumed their operation on Tuesday.
On the day of the reopening, over a dozen police officers stopped by the lemon stand to express their support for the hardworking young teens.
“I may have cried a little,” Nathan Peterson, Jude’s father, expressed according to the PJ Star.
“Our hearts are overwhelmed by the love and support of the community – people from totally different backgrounds, police, everyone – all rallying around these boys.”
According to the reports, the police are investigating the robbery.
