A millionaire from Bahrain visited Peru to turn around the life of a hard-working boy after a video of him studying in the light of a street pole went viral on social media.
Víctor Martín Angulo Córdoba has no electricity at his home in Moche district.
But nothing stops him from his dream of getting an education. He wants to become a police officer so he can help end the corruption in his country.
That’s why the 12-year-old regularly sits beneath a street lamp beside a roadway to complete the daily homework tasks he gets from school.
Victor broke the heart of internet users after a video of him studying under a street light emerged online.
In the footage captured by a CCTV, the boy can be seen lying face down on the sidewalk of the street.
The surveillance video then shows how the dedicated student sits up on the edge of the sidewalk to correct a mistake in his homework by an eraser.
It didn’t take long for the heartbreaking clip to get Víctor the attention he deserved.
The video got noticed by 31-year-old Yaqoob Yusuf Ahmed Mubarak, from Bahrain, who vowed to rebuild Victor’s house, installing all facilities in it and making it two stories high.
According to Tubarco, the philanthropist has restored electricity in the boy’s home.
Yaqoob, who lived in similar conditions in his childhood, has also pledged to help the boy with his educational expenses, the outlet reports.
Speaking to Diarrio Correo, Victor said: “Thank you for the help you are offering, thank you very much because you are helping us to build our school.”
His mother added: “He kept thinking, ‘How can people from another continent come to see me?’
“I thank the people who want to do this to me (build my house) I thank them very much that they have had that kindness and they have given time to come to my humble home, because anyone does not do it.”
