An 8-year-old boy has received special gifts after he sold his prized Pokemon cards to save his puppy.

Bryson Kliemann, a die-hard Pokemon fan, had a huge collection of cards. But when he realized that his furry companion Bruce was not feeling well, he did not think twice when he set up a stand and erected a sign to sell his precious cards.

Speaking to Local 12 News, his mother Kimberly Woodruff said: “He wasn’t coming out of his cage and being the normal puppy he usually is. He was very lethargic, just not doing good.”

Kimberly and her son took Bruce to the vet where the pooch was diagnosed with parvo, a highly contagious dog virus.

Because the family could not afford the $700 treatment, Bryson decided to set up a stand outside their home.

“While I’m in school I get a text message with a picture of him and a sign on the side of the road selling Pokémon cards,” Kimberly shared.

Bryson told Local 12 News: “I know everybody likes Pokemon cards so I just decided to sell them.”

His mother then posted a GoFundMe page where she wrote that her son was ready to sell the things he loved to save the life of his dog.

News of the 8-year-old’s efforts immediately went viral and donations have grown to over $5,400.

The funds left after the treatment will go towards Bruce’s future vaccinations and other sick pooches in their community, WCYB reported.

Bryson’s efforts also traveled all the way to Pokemon HQ in Washington. Employees were so touched the boy was prepared to sell his collection to save his pet so they sent him rare cards.

“Hey Bryson, we were so inspired by your story about selling your cards for your dog’s recovery, these are some cards to help you replace the ones you had to sell,” the Pokemon staff said in a letter.

Bryson was so happy with the gift.

“I’m happy he’s home, and I’m proud of myself. Now my brother and sister are playing with him too, and now I’m really playing with him pretty often,” he said.
