He was told to stay home until he tests negative for coronavirus.

In an interview with CBS Boston, Lancinet Keita said he was in John Bishop Elementary School when he sneezed two times.

The teacher immediately sent him to a clinic and contacted his father, telling him that Lancinet had a stuffy nose and was sneezing.

His father, Thierno Keita, said his son was in good health and had no symptoms when he picked him up from school.

“And I checked his temperature: everything was perfect,” he expressed.

Mr. Keita now plans to get his son tested for coronavirus so he could go back to school. He said he was so upset thinks the teacher overreacted, making him miss work and his boy miss classes.

Bishop Elementary School officials have confirmed the incident and said that the boy was sent home after ‘he displayed Covid-19 related symptoms.’

“This decision was made both out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with district protocols related to COVID-19. This isolated incident is not indicative of any need for wider concern of COVID-19 exposure,” the statement said.

“Per district protocols, the student will either have to produce a negative COVID-19 test, written documentation from a health care provider stating it is an alternative illness or be symptom free for 10 days following the start of the symptoms.”
