A 14-year-old schoolboy has spoken out about his hobby and admitted he already earned more than $200,000 thanks to it.
As Griffin Spikoski explained, he started earning mega bucks by playing Fortnite and sharing videos around nine months ago.
Griffin, who goes under the pseudonym ‘Sceptic,’ realized that his hobby could be made profitable after his video in which he beat a fellow gamer gained 7.5 million views.
According to the 14-year-old, he plays the video game for about 8 hours per weekday and up to 18 hours per day on a weekend.
As his father, Chris Spikoski, admitted, the entire family was “blown away” once the earnings started rolling in.
“We try to keep him humble about it. We try to find the right balance between his school work and just keeping his priorities straight,” the father said.
Nowadays, Griffin has over one million subscribers on YouTube and is determined to save the money he earns for the future.
“I play a lot. I mean, it’s kind of like my job,” the teen admitted.
“I’m just going to save it. If I go down the road or if this goes down or whatever, I can use it on college, a house – anything.”
The boy’s family has also helped the teen create a company called Sceptic Gaming and hired an accountant and a financial adviser.
“I want parents to know that, you know, if their kids do enjoy playing games and they have a passion for it and they’re really good at it, they should treat it as any other sport,” the 14-year-old boy’s father, Chris, said.
Besides having a large fan base, Chris has also grown his name by making appearances for PGA, Samsung, and the Miami Heat.
