A young boy from Texas lost his mother only four months after his father passed away.
4-year-old Raiden Gonzales was a happy young boy living with his parents, Mariah Gonzales, 29, and Adan, 33, until tragedy struck them.
Adan died from coronavirus in June and his wife passed away from the disease in October, leaving Raiden an orphan.
The four-year-old is now living with his grandmother, Rozie Salinas, and will celebrate his 5th birthday this month.
Salinas said that tragedy hit the family after one of Adan’s co-workers tested positive for coronavirus. He was admitted to a hospital right away but passed away four weeks later.
Nurses and doctors said Adan was one of the two sickest patients at the hospital at that time.
Raiden’s mother was still grieving over her husband’s death when she died from the disease on October 5.
Speaking to NBC News, Salinas said: “He misses his mom since he was a mama’s boy. Just this morning he told me that he wishes he had his mom back and he just wanted her back.
“I mean, what do I tell him? You know, so I just told him that they’re now angels watching over us and protecting us.
“I kept him at that same preschool. They take really good care of him. They know what his situation is.”
The grandmother added: “He’s what keeps me going, just with his friendly and constant reminders telling me how much he loves me. He’s always thanking me for taking care of him, but I’ve just got to think about him.
“It’s a hard situation to process.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Raiden and it has accumulated more than $35,000 as of this writing.
