A six-year-old boy tragically died in front of his mother while riding a bike just outside his home.
The incident took place in Manchester, England, where Kidus Wondwosen, 6, was hit by a car while riding his bike just outside his family home.
As The Sun reported, the young boy’s mother, Zufan Yemane, was watching her son play when the collision occurred and resulted in the child’s death.
“Kidus was a happy, friendly boy who was always smiling. He was very smart and his mum was proud that he was the smartest boy in his class at school,” family members of Kidus, who dreamt of becoming a police officer, expressed in a statement shared by the police.
“He loved his family, especially his mum, auntie and brother. He had lots of friends and loved to be out playing games with them. He also loved to play football and to go swimming. He liked Manchester United and his favorite player was Marcus Rashford.
“This lively, bubbly young boy had his whole life to look forward to and dreamed of being a policeman when he grew up. His whole family are devastated by his death and are struggling to comprehend that they will never see him again.”
Following the deadly crash, the police arrested a 32-year-old female driver on suspicion of causing death by reckless driving. The suspect was later released pending investigation.
“This was a devastating collision. Our thoughts are with the boy’s loved ones at what is understandably a heart breaking time for them,” Sergeant Joseph Barron said after the incident.
As the investigator added, the authorities are working on establishing “the full circumstances” surrounding the accident and the 6-year-old’s death.
“… We are keen to hear from anyone with information. I would also appeal to anyone with dash cam footage from the area shortly before or at the time of the incident to contact us,” Barron said.
