A little boy ended up in a garbage truck after hiding in a trash can while playing hide and seek.
The bizarre incident took place in Hillsborough County, Florida, where 7-year-old Elias Quezada was playing hide and seek, WFLA reported.
Thinking of a good spot to hide, the young boy came upon the idea of squeezing himself inside a trash bin thinking no one would look for him in there.
Just moments later, however, garbage collectors arrived at the family’s home only to pick up the trash can with Elias inside with the mechanical arm of their garbage truck.
“I got picked up and thrown to where I was going to be a mashed potato. I was thinking, ‘this might be the end for me,’” the 7-year-old said in an interview with WFLA.
Fortunately, the garbage collectors spotted the young boy after he managed to climb out of the bin and hold on to the back of the truck.
“Looking at the camera, I see something drop. I come outside, I see him, he said, ‘Help me, help me.’ I said, ‘OK, you’re OK now,’” Waldo Fidele, the driver of the truck, said.
As the man explained, he immediately turned off the truck and called for help after spotting Elias in trouble.
After the incident, Elias’ grandma confirmed that her grandson had only been outside the home for a moment before the accident took place.
“In a minute, he went out, and the next thing I hear is the sound of the truck and a guy screaming. I’m very thankful that he was looking at that camera at that time and he acted so fast, because otherwise, he wouldn’t be here,” Carmen Salazar expressed as she thanked Mr Fidele for saving her grandson.
