A 6-year-old boy called 911 after two armed robbers shot his mother and severely injured his father.
40-year-old Wilma Hochstetler tragically passed away after she and her husband were ambushed by roadside robbers.
The boy’s father, Jonathan, was driving home from work when his tire blew and damaged a trailer light. Wilma drove to his location with their child 6-year-old Bradon.
The religious parents were repairing the tire at 1:50 am when two armed robbers held Jonathan and Wilma up at gunpoint. They stole their wallets and Wilma’s phone.
As the attackers walked away, they turned around and opened fire, shooting Jonathan in the neck and killing Wilma.
6-year-old Bradon, who was hiding in the truck, found a cellphone and called 911.
Jonathan’s father, Samuel Hochstetler, said his son underwent two surgeries and required fusion of three vertebrae.
Samuel said that he and Jonathan forgave the armed men who attacked them. “He said I have total peace, I’m comfortable, I’m encouraged. He said I have no anger towards those men.”
Samuel told Fox 59: “I extend forgiveness towards the two murderers. Revenge only begets more violence.
“My heart’s desire for them is that they would repent and fall on their faces before the Lord Jesus and cry out for mercy for their own soul’s sake.
“Jesus would desire to give them a new heart and a new spirit.”
Wilma leaves behind her husband and four children – Bradon, 6, Kendra, 10, Abigail, 14, and Melissa, 16.
A family friend, Andrew Yutzy, said to WIS News that the couple were childhood sweethearts.
“They were in the same church and the same youth group, and I guess, they were both kind of shy people,” he shared. “Two shy people met each other and fell in love.
“They were just always the people that were there with a smile, and literally, they would give the shirt off their back, if it would help you.”
