A 7-year-old boy has gone viral after throwing his babysitter an unforgettable backyard-style prom after learning that her event got canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Curtis Rogers is a young gentleman from North Carolina who knew he had to act after his mum told him that his babysitter, 17-year-old Rachel Chapman, wouldn’t be able to celebrate her high school prom due to the event getting canceled.
After Curtis heard the grim news, he decided to throw a backyard prom at his home where he and Rachel could celebrate while social distancing.
“I was so surprised. I had no idea he was going to go all out. It was very thoughtful and sweet,” Rachel said in an interview with Good Morning America.
As the boy’s mother explained, Curtis has grown very close to his babysitter since she’s been watching over him and picking him up from school for over one year.
“She has become a part of our family … he absolutely adores her,” mother Elissa Rogers explained.
“She’s a just great person with good heart so it’s been a blessing to have her helping us out with Curtis.”
During the unique backyard prom, Curtis and Rachel enjoyed good music and food and had an adorable photoshoot they will never forget – all while staying six feet apart at all times.
Speaking of his reasons to go through with the backyard prom in an interview with WTVD, Curtis said:
“I planned it out because Rachel probably wanted to see me a lot. She also is one of the best people I’ve known.”
