Every year on 4th of July, cities all over the country are decorated and the celebration begins with fireworks and a local parade.
According to the Arlington 4th website, the theme for 2019 was “Happy Birthday USA!”
According to Arlington 4th of July website, “Started in 1965 by citizen Dottie Lynn and Church Women United, it was composed of primary youth on red, white and blue-decorated bicycles, pedaling around Randol Mill Park.’’
“It eventually became too large for the park path and has evolved into a two-mile, high-spirited, curb-to-curb ribbon of red, white and blue with 150 entries that rolls through downtown and UTA’s College Park District to the beat of patriotic music played by all six Arlington high schools and a variety of other musical entries.’’
One young boy paid his respect which made everyone’s day and Wendy Collins Smith, a parade spectator and Arlington local couldn’t stop herself to click the photo of the moment.
A boy named Josh was honoring the country and the color guard officer carrying the American flag.
“The start of the parade and the color guard stopped,” Smith wrote in her Facebook caption. “A child ran out and tied the American flag guys shoe. We need more of his type in the world!”
Not only Smith but Josh’s grandfather, Dennis Wiles also witnessed the heartwarming moment and captured the photo which was shared by the Arlington Police Department on Twitter.
“Sometimes the police need an assist from the community,” Wiles wrote. “My grandson, Josh, was called out of the crowd at the beginning of the parade today to tie the shoes for one of the APD Honor Guards. Way to go, Josh!”
Arlington Police, TX shared the picture on Twitter and wrote, “This photo has been getting a lot of attention today. JOSH – Thank you for helping our Honor Guard today. It was much appreciated! We needed a little “backup” today and you came through to save the day.”
