Job interviews are not an easy thing to deal with.
With each interview, a person comes around a different boss who might or might not hire them.
While every interview is different from the other, their methods are different as well. Each boss or the HR of the company hires people on the basis of a method they have got for their own.
But this guy has a method that is completely bizarre and I am sure you would have never heard of it before.
MD of Xero Australia, Trent has a completely different method of hiring his employees. Well, yes the degree and the knowledge are important but there is one more method that he uses to test if the employee is the right fit for his company or not.
For his method, he uses coffee. Yes, this is bizarre right? I mean what can he do with coffee?
Trent explained saying “whenever a candidate comes in for an interview, I take them to the kitchen of the company for a walk around the place. We then take a coffee from the kitchen and get back to my office.
This is when the time of the check. After they are done with the coffee, the one thing I see is if they take the empty cup of coffee back to the kitchen or not.
If they leave without taking the cup back to the kitchen, we blacklist them from the company. They are never allowed to interview again then.”
The reason behind this is that he says a person cannot be changed on his character and we need people that understand their responsibility first and everything else comes on later.
He says the work culture he wants in his office demands a person to be responsible and so he takes the test.
