The mother of a premature baby girl has revealed that she was born 14 weeks earlier than her expected delivery date but has survived and is doing great now.
Jazz Smith, a resident of Grimsby, elaborated in an interview that her daughter was born on April 29, even when she was due on August 3 due to an emergency. It is not less than a miracle that she has survived even after her devastating medical condition at the time of her birth.
The doctors informed the mother that they needed to take the baby out earlier than expected because the fetus was not receiving blood from the mother’s body.
Her liver stopped working because of the placenta separating from the walls of her uterus.
At the time of the birth, the baby’s umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck, and she was medically unfit, weighing 1lb 15oz.According to Jazz, it was the most challenging time of her life. She has a 3-year-old son, and because of her medical condition, she had to stay in the hospital for more than a week. She missed her son in that duration as she wasn’t allowed to leave the hospital premises without doctors’ permission.
The baby has to go under open heart surgery as she was born in the 24th week.
Three different doctors used to keep a constant check on the baby and the mother. The baby is still on oxygen, but her parents are happy that she survived despite the unfavorable conditions of her birth.
The baby stayed in Hull’s neonatal unit to spend the first few weeks of her life. Then she was shifted to the Scunthorpe General Hospital to spend almost 3 weeks. She had a chronic lung disorder as well.
