President Biden has reportedly been warned about the immigration “crisis” by no other than the National Border Patrol Council president.
While the 46th President previously refused to say that the current state of affairs at the border should be treated as a crisis, NBPC president Brandon Judd now insists the situation “meets the definition.”
Speaking to Fox News, Judd insisted that the staff at the border are “overwhelmed” and warned that they don’t have sufficient resources to prevent drug and human trafficking.
“A week ago I would not have called this a crisis. Today it meets the definition. We are overwhelmed. We do not have the resources to stop the cartels from bringing in illegal aliens, from bringing in drugs, therefore we are in fact in a crisis,” the president of the national union said.
The dire warning follows shortly after Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security, suggested the situation at the southern border will likely continue getting harder to handle before we see any improvements.
“The situation is undoubtedly difficult. We are working around the clock to manage it, and it will take time,” Mayorkas confirmed on Wednesday.
“But we will not waver in our commitment to succeed. That is our job. We will also not waver in our values and our principles as a nation.
“In the Department of Homeland Security, we can and we will tackle the many challenges we face while complying with our legal obligations and honoring our nation’s values and principles.”
Showing the extent of the surge in migrations is also a New York Times report according to which the Customs and Border Protection logged nearly double the number of migrants crossing the border this fiscal year as compared to the same period of time during the previous fiscal year, whereas the number went up from 201,600 to 396,000 for the time period.point 579 | 1
