Bodycam footage from two police officers shows a cop pointing a handgun at George Floyd’s head and how the distressed father begged ‘Mr.
Officer, please don’t shoot me,’ before he took his last breath on May 25, Daily Mail revealed.
The video shows how the officers ignored Floyd’s pleas for compassion, cursing and manhandling the crying suspect, who allegedly tried to buy cigarettes using a fake $20 bill at Cup Foods in Minneapolis.
Floyd can be seen resisting as the officers tried to force him into the back of the vehicle, saying he suffers from anxiety and claustrophobia.
It is clear from the video that he was not trying to escape. He had plenty of time to run before the cops arrived but Floyd decided to stay in his car and give the officers the opportunity to talk.
The tapes also show how officer Derek Chauvin ignored the father’s repeated cries of ‘I can’t breathe’ as he knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes.
“I’ll probably just die this way,’ Floyd said.
The video includes 10 minutes from officer Thomas Lane and over 18 minutes from officer Alex Kueng’s bodycam.
“Hey man, I’m sorry,” Floyd says.
“Put your f***ing hands up right now! Let me see your other hand,” Lane orders him. “Jesus Christ, keep your f****ing hands on the wheel.”
Floyd explains that he had been shot before, and the cop says: “Keep your f***ing hands on the wheel.”
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” Floyd cries. “God dang man. Man, I got shot the same way, Mr. Officer, before.”
Lane replies: “Okay. Well when I say ‘Let me see your hands,’ you put your f***ing hands up.” He also orders Floyd out of the vehicle.
“Okay. Mr. Officer, please don’t shoot me. Please man,” the father replies, adding: “I just lost my mom, man.”
The 46-year-old can be seen crying as Lane and Kueng pull him out of the vehicle and handcuff him.
At one point, Floyd says: “Tell my kids I love them. I’m dead.”
Chauvin, Kueng, Lane, and a fourth cop, Tou Thao, were fired the day after Floyd’s death.
