Body Of 19-Year-Old Woman Is Found Wrapped In Plastic In An Abandoned Market


A body of a 19-year-old woman was discovered wrapped in plastic in an abandoned fish market in lower Manhattan.

According to the New York Post, the body of the woman was found by her boyfriend and another friend on the second floor of the old Fulton Fish Market around 9:20 am on Saturday.

The victim’s boyfriend and a friend immediately called emergency services when they found her unresponsive and all wrapped up.

Police officers who arrived at the scene said there were no signs of trauma on her body, which was taken to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Sources said to AMNY that the woman may have been dead for many days before her boyfriend and a friend found her body on the second-floor staircase of the building on 95 South St. near the FDR Drive.

The boyfriend reportedly told police that the woman “had been led” to the abandoned fish market several weeks ago but officers couldn’t verify if his statement was true.

Police did not consider the homeless woman’s boyfriend a suspect as of Saturday. No arrests have been made.

An NYPD spokesperson told the Post: “Right now, we simply don’t know what happened.”

Residents also said that homeless people have taken over the abandoned warehouse “for years now.”
