The remains of a missing mother were found inside her car several weeks after she went missing.
52-year-old Sally Jane Demaris Smith, who was last seen in Great Falls, was reported missing on September 25.
The mother-of-four was believed to have been driving to Malta.
More than two weeks later, Smith’s body was discovered inside her car in a storage container outside Great Falls.
Authorities will release more information about the cause of death after an autopsy.
“The Smith family would like to thank the community of Great Falls, GFPD and all law enforcement who were assisting and all of the folks on social media who were determined to find Sally,” her grieving family said in a statement.
“She was loved and adored by thousands, this we know. The overwhelming support and concern to all of the prayers is a testament of how beautiful of a person she was.”
Smith’s heartbroken husband, Troy, described her as the family’s ‘rock.’
He told the Great Falls Tribute when his wife went missing: “I’m just going to places that had sentimental value to me, places that we’ve been, that I’ve been searching hopefully that its somewhere she might have went.”
Troy described her as a ‘beautiful person on the inside and outside.’
Smith leaves behind her four children and husband.
One person commented: “Another woman, Marilane Carter, was also found dead in her car in a storage container back in August. I wonder if that case gave her or even someone else the idea. It seems very strange that there are two cases so similar in such a short time.”
Another wrote: “Another serial killer. We need more cameras in cars so when people are abducted we can at least have a clue who they might be.”
