A college student reportedly died in his college dorm, and no one ever recognized or acknowledged his missing for nearly two months until the dorm started stinking.
According to the reports, the body of the student of the University of Canterbury, New Zealand was found on Monday night when a few students complained a mysterious stink in the dorm.
The police officials reached to the spot and discovered the body in a decomposition state. It was also found that the student’s father had made multiple complaints when he was not able to get in touch with his son.
As the body was in decomposition state, disaster victim identification team had to be called in order to verify the fingerprints, dental records, and DNA of the deceased.
The student’s name has been kept anonymous, and police are still investigating regarding the cause of death.
A thing that is constantly nudging everyone’s mind is that how can a dead body remain unnoticed for straight two months.
Neither his friends nor teachers ever tried to inquire his whereabouts when he went missing.
Vice-chancellor of the university expressed her condolences by stating that it is just unimaginable how these circumstances have occurred in front of everyone’s naked eyes.
She further added that the university is devastated by the incident and extend their sympathy towards the boy’s family.
The police investigation is in full swing. Everyone who is closely or indirectly related to the boy is being interrogated in order to find any details regarding his death and suspicious negligence.
New Zealand Education Minister, Chris Hipkins has also come forward by saying this incident is really a concerning issue and it should alert the school and college officials to pay close attention to their students.
