The bodies of two 21-year-olds who disappeared last week have been found in a car submerged in 40 feet of water.
The remains of 21-year-old Djovany Pierre and 21-year-old Tatianna Morales were discovered inside an SUV near the Black Falcon Terminal in Boston.
They had been missing since last week after Morales’ family filed a missing report to police.
According to officials, state police responded to the scene after discovering that an SUV had submerged into the water.
The white vehicle was located about 40 feet of water, 15 feet away from the pier in Seaport District.
The State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County, Boston Police, Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Unit, Massport Police, and Boston Fire responded to the scene.
Morales’ body was immediately recovered but Pierre’s body could not be pulled right away. Divers had to hook tow cables to the car to take it on land to extricate Pierre.
It is not clear how the white SUV fell into the water but investigators are checking through surveillance footage to determine what exactly happened.
Family and friends of Morales said she was found with stab wounds but it not clear if it was Pierre who caused it.
They said that the young mother met Pierre on Facebook only three weeks ago but they were only friends.
Yeison Giron, Morales’ high school sweetheart and the father of her baby boy, said he felt something was wrong when she did not come back home.
In an interview with CBS News, Giron said: “It’s not like her to leave our son behind and just disappear. She loves our son and would never do that.”
Morales’ cousin, Vicki Castro, told Boston25: “I don’t know what could’ve been happening but for her to be stabbed that is very brutal. She was stabbed. I have no clue – I don’t want to make speculations.”
He added: “It doesn’t make any sense for them to just drive into the water. She was not depressed, she was not suicidal, she was very, very happy.”
Pierre was also a father of a 9-month-old baby girl.
