The doctors immediately realized that something wasn’t right with the newborn as the skin on his back was dark red. The rest of the body of Dylan was covered in large black liver spots.

It was revealed that Dylan was suffering from a serious condition known as Congenital Melanocytic Nevus. About 80 percent of his body was covered with birthmarks.

The doctors told Dylan’s mother, Kara, that he had to go through several surgeries early in life. The doctors were most concerned about the large mole that covered the majority of Dylan’s back as people suffering from Congenital Melanocytic Nevus have a high risk for skin cancer.

To remove the large mole that covered the majority of Dylan’s back required transplanting skin from other parts of the baby’s body, and that was the most difficult thing.

The doctors proceeded with the more complicated operations as Dylan grew older. To produce enough skin for transplants, doctors had to insert implants that he had to carry for three months.

Dylan had to go through so many operations to get rid of that gigantic mole. Thankfully, around half of the boy’s gigantic mole has been removed after 26 operations.

“We’re holding onto hope that the moles never turn on and become cancerous, but he could develop cancer at any point. He has surgery every three to six months, dependent on which area of the body.”

“We are trying to do what’s best for him, we want to give him the fullest, longest life we possibly can. Dylan amazes me constantly, he always has a smile on his face and feels like he owns the hospital, all the nurses know and love him.” Dylan’s mother, Kara, told the Telegraph.
