Massive Blast From Gender Reveal Party Sparks Earthquake Reports After It Shook Towns In Two States


An explosion from a gender reveal party prompted fears of an earthquake after a couple used 80 pounds of explosives.

Police received 911 calls from terrified homeowners after the loud explosion shook entire towns on the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border.

According to reports, the explosives were set off with blue chalk to announce the gender of the baby.

Police responded to Torromeo quarry and found the family who said that they were holding a gender reveal party with 80 pounds of the Tannerite explosive.

The person who bought and set off the explosives is now cooperating with the investigation.

The family told police that they thought the quarry would be a safe area to blow up the explosives and they had permission from the owners to be there.

Residents in the area complained that the foundations to their houses were damaged after the force shook homes within a 20-mile radius of the quarry.

The shockwaves were felt in towns as far off as Massachusetts.

Residents said the explosion rocked their homes while others reported property damages.

“We heard this god-awful blast,” Sara Taglieri told NBC 10 Boston. “It knocked pictures off our walls… I’m all up for silliness and whatnot, but that was extreme.”

Ms. Taglieri’s husband, Matt, said that their neighbors reported cracked in the foundations of their houses.

Heidi Jordan said she was preparing food on a grill when she heard and felt the explosion.

“I thought for a second that maybe a large dump truck had gone off the road and struck a tree,” she said, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported.

“I also considered that it may have been another minor earthquake.”

Kristen Lockard from East Hampstead said she was having dinner with her friends in East Kingston when the blast occurred.

“Sounded like one big boom and the house shook and the windows rattled. It lasted only three seconds,” she expressed.
