Beauty is beyond skin but when Iomikoe Johnson, an African-American mother of four was diagnosed with vitiligo, she feared with the fact that people will find another excuse to bully her.
Vitiligo is a rare skin condition affecting the skin’s pigmentation resulting in the affected areas slowly turns white. There are hundreds and thousands of people with cases similar to vitiligo.
But for Iomikoe, she was disgusted by her appearance. She didn’t even like to look at mirrors. She was so embarrassed that she spent hours every day applying makeup on her skin to hide the deformity. And she did it for eight years until she found the love of her life.
Iomikoe’s fiance encouraged her to be her true self, enjoy her true skin and it doesn’t matter if people don’t like it, it’s up to them, she is and will always remain beautiful.
This was all she needed and her fiance’s touching words boosted her morale and confidence. His honest words touched her so much that she decided to be her true self no matter what.
Today, she has ditched all those makeup and beauty products and is investing her time to inspire others who are suffering from the same condition like her.
She is a body activist and has taken to modeling. She is a true inspiration for all of us. We hope that she fulfills all her future endeavors.
