This video was filmed in a conventional Greek Orthodox Church of Ayia Napa, Cyprus.
It shows the baptism of a baby but it looks more like cruelty on that little child.
This video has left the twitter users fuming at the bishop who was aggressively baptizing a baby in water. He was repeatedly immersing the baby in the baptismal font. He dunked the baby thrice in the water who appeared completely unfazed by the process. The little children surrounding the font initially looked quite excited to see the process they were then left scared after witnessing the roughness of the process.
These forceful baptisms are seen as one of the solutions of the rapidly declining birth rate in Cyprus.
Although the parents seemed completely unfazed by the rough procedure, many social media users were enraged. There were many comments which directly criticized the rough approach that the archbishop used to baptize the baby.
Zita London on Twitter said that she could bet that the baby is left brain-dead.
Another user said that it looked more like attempted murder than baptism.
A similar kind of clip went viral last year when a bishop in Georgia baptized the little child in the same rough way. That little child was so scared that he couldn’t even cry at the roughness inflicted on him.
Not just this but the parents of this child too were unfazed by the sheer roughness of the archbishop; rather they looked quite happy.
