A 28-year-old woman Ali Bamford had to give birth in the front seat of her car after losing her way to the hospital during labor pains.
Ali went to the hospital with her 53-year-old mother, Jane Wilding, when they lost their way and took a wrong turn while going towards the hospital. Ali was having labor pains and crying in pain while her mother was struggling to find the right direction.
Suddenly, the heavily pregnant woman asked her mum to stop the car as she had to push as the baby was coming out and she couldn’t control it anymore. While sitting in the front seat of her car, Ali gave birth to Delilah at A650, Carr Gate, West Yorkshire.
Fortunately, the baby was fine, and so was the mother. Jane has to wrap the umbilical cord as it was around the mother’s legs. Ali hurriedly covered her newly born baby girl in her dress gown. After the baby’s birth, a passerby told them the way to the hospital, which was just a mile away from their current location.
Jane rushed to the Pinderfields Hospital as quickly as she can and then a team of nurses checked the baby and the mother.
Both of them had to stay in the hospital until the doctors allowed them to leave.
The 33-year-old father of the baby, Jamie Firth, had to stay in the house as the couple had 3 other children, including 11-year-old scarlet, 5-year-old Lillie and 2-year-old Thea. All three of them were born normally without any drama, but Delilah’s arrival in the world made it to the headlines the next day.
Both parents of the little girl are so happy and excited t to see her safe and healthy despite the unusual circumstances at the time of her birth. We would advise all mothers-to-be to keep in check everything, even the routes to the hospital near the time of baby’s delivery.
