McDonald’s is offering a limited-time Big Mac offering that doubles the number of meat patties to form the Double Big Mac.

The iconic burger’s new look is just one of the two new sandwiches that were introduced in McDonald’s limited menu. The other sandwich on the list is the Little Mac.

The Double Big Mac is essentially the same as the regular Big Mac but includes an extra patty both above and below.

The $5.49 burger has a whopping 720 calories with 43 grams of fat, as opposed to the original one’s 540 calories and 34 grams of fat.

The Little Mac is akin to a regular McDonald’s cheeseburger but adds the special Big Mac sauce for that extra taste.

The Little Mac is priced at $2.29 and has 320 calories.

The classic Big Mac will still be on the menu for $3.99.

The burgers still have the same ingredients that have made the Big Mac such a hit for decades: the special sauce, beef patties, cheese, lettuce, onions, and pickles on a sesame seed bun.

In a press release, Linda VanGosen, vice president of Menu Innovation, said: “The Big Mac is more than a burger—over the past 50 years it has become an international icon and a consistent favorite for our fans.

“From the perfect amount of our legendary Special Sauce to the crunch of our crisp lettuce and the juiciness of our 100% pure beef patties, customers know and love the unmistakable flavor of the Big Mac. We’re excited to give them new ways to enjoy the burger they love and satisfy fan cravings of all sizes with three delicious Big Mac options.”

And more Big Mac changes may be coming our way.

“While all cravings for the iconic sandwich are certainly worth celebrating, we’re not done with the Big Mac love just yet and can’t wait to show you what’s next,” the company said.

The last time they introduced variations in their Big Mac options was in 2017 and 2018 in the form of the Grand Mac which still had two patties and three buns, except that they were larger.

With rivals have improved their breakfast offerings, burgers are still a big hit among McDonald’s fans and this has incentivized the company to keep innovating.

CEO Chris Kempczinski pointed out that premium burgers like the Quarter Pounder are still a “standout performer.”

The Big Mac first made its appearance in Greater Pittsburgh in 1967 and was added to the nationwide menu in 1968.

In the United States alone, there are roughly 550 million Big Macs sold each year.
