President Joe Biden avoided questions about former President Donald Trump’s impeachment acquittal and said that he did not want to talk about him anymore.
“Look, for four years, all that’s been in the news is Trump. The next four years, I want to make sure all the news is the American people,” Biden said.
“I’m tired of talking about Trump.”
Biden also spoke of the former President during the 75-minute event, calling Trump ‘the former guy.’
But when CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked him for his thoughts on Trump’s acquittal, the President did not take the bait.
On another occasion, Biden found himself going towards the topic of Trump but he immediately said: “I’m tired of talking about Donald Trump. I don’t want to talk about him anymore.”
Biden also refused to talk about Republicans who voted to acquit him and refused to answer if he also thought they were ‘cowards’ as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi previously claimed.
“I’m not going to call names out,” Biden said as he refused to talk about possible investigations of the former president for his actions in relation to the Capitol riot.
The President said of his Justice Department: “Their prosecutorial decisions will be left to the Justice Department, not me.”
The new administration has dodged questions about Trump’s second impeachment trial and said that their focus is on the Covid-19 pandemic and passing relief legislations, the Daily Mail reported.
Speaker Pelosi reportedly crashed the post-trial press conference of the House impeachment manager on Saturday and raged against Mitch McConnell.
She also called out Republicans’ ‘cowardly’ vote to stop former President Donald Trump from being convicted for inciting the Capitol riot in January 6.
