Joe Biden has promised to sign a handful of executive orders during his first day of presidency.
Among the vows he has made include the reversal of the travel ban on predominantly Muslim countries, mask mandates, and having the U.S. rejoin the Paris Climate Accord.
One of the executive orders he will sign is to reverse the ‘Muslim travel ban,’ which affected people from Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, and Sudan when it was enacted in January 2017.
Another executive order the incoming president is planning on signing on the first day of his presidency is an order to have the U.S. rejoin the Paris Climate Accord after Donald Trump had the country withdraw from the agreement in 2019.
In a memo obtained by CNN, incoming chief of staff Ron Klain wrote: “During the campaign, President-elect Biden pledged to take immediate action to start addressing these crises and build back better.”
He added: “As president, he will keep those promises and sign dozens of executive orders, presidential memoranda, and directives to Cabinet agencies in fulfillment of the promises he made.”
Biden is also planning to sign an executive order to pause student loan payments during the pandemic, halt evictions during the pandemic, and a policy requiring people to wear face masks on federal properties.
He also listed a $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill and a thorough immigration policy among his top priorities.
According to the Sunday Telegraph, Biden is planning to visit the United Kingdom.
One of Biden’s friends said: “Joe’s view will be that they’ll have the destiny of the world on their shoulders so he’ll want to overcome any political differences.”
