Bob Gibbs of Ohio’s Seventh Congressional District has filed articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden and said that Biden is not fit for the job and is willfully violating the separation of powers.

Representative Bob Gibbs posted on Twitter saying: “I filed articles of impeachment against @POTUS based on what I believe to be clear violations of his duties.”

“There are dynamics in Congress preventing this from being debated. But I could not stand by while Biden commits flagrant & deliberate violations of his oath of office,” he added.

Gibbs explained that the president’s handling of the surge of illegal immigrants at the border and his attempts to extend the federal eviction moratorium constitutes a failure to carry out his duties as president.

Gibbs has filled 3 articles of impeachment against the President and he is co-sponsor of the articles along with Rep Andy Biggs of Arizona and Brian Babin and Randy Weber of Texas.

“His willful negligence of the border crisis is a failure to maintain and defend American sovereignty,” Gibbs continued. “Biden’s attempts to extend a federal eviction moratorium despite the Supreme Court’s warning and his own admission that he has no power to do so is a blatant and intentional action that violates the separation of powers.”

“Finally, the withdrawal from Afghanistan was not just a disaster,” he said. “By pulling military personnel out before the evacuation of American civilians, President Biden shamefully left our own citizens in danger.”

The Republican said he did not come to this move “lightly”, however, he felt forced to act after what happened in Afghanistan.

Gibbs said that the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan that claimed the lives of 13 US service members was also a major factor in the decision to file articles of impeachment.

The President has hit back at these criticisms, saying America had to leave at some point and local forces didn’t face up to the challenge of facing Taliban militants.

Gibs also added that the sweeping COVID vaccine order Biden introduced earlier this month could later be added as an additional article. President Biden has announced a new mandatory vaccination policy that will affect 100 million people.

Federal workers and contractors, employees at government-funded hospitals and health centers, and workers at companies that have 100 or more staff will have to get vaccinated.

The Ohio Republican acknowledged in an interview that the impeachment is unlikely to succeed.

“Obviously, it’s not going to go anywhere with Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi,” he said. “It shows that there are some Republicans that think that this president needs to be impeached, he needs to be removed from office one way or another.”

The impeachment filing comes the same week polling showed plunging support for Biden amongst independents. Joe Biden currently holds a 43% approval and 53% disapproval in a new Gallup poll conducted Sept. 1-17.

That’s a drop from a 49%-48% approval/disapproval rating in Gallup’s Aug. 2-17 survey. In June, the president stood at 56%-42%.

This is the second time articles of impeachment have been introduced pertaining to Biden.

Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene filed articles of impeachment the day after Biden was sworn into office.

Former President Trump was impeached twice during his four-year presidency but was not convicted either time by the Senate. In January, he became the first US president in history to be impeached twice following his actions ahead of the deadly January 6 Capitol riot.

He was previously impeached in 2019 after records revealed that he asked the Ukrainian president to investigate the Biden family amid his 2020 presidential campaign.
