President Biden has signed another series of executive orders aiming to overturn immigration policies put in place by Trump.

On Tuesday, the POTUS signed three executive orders that will mend the alleged damages caused by Trump’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy which saw children separated from their parents at the border. A special task force will be established to help reunite hundreds of children that were separated from their parents and placed in federal custody in recent years.

“We’re gonna remove the stain on our reputation that the separations caused. As my grandfather said, the grace of God and the good will of neighbors, we will reunite these children and reestablish our reputation as being a haven for people in need,” the President vowed.

“And with the first action today, we’re going to work to undo the moral and national shame of the previous administration that literally, not figuratively, ripped children from the arms of their families, their mothers and fathers at the border, and with no plan, none whatsoever, to reunify the children who are still in custody and their parents,” the president said before signing the first of three executive orders concerning immigration policies on Tuesday.point 501 | 1

Biden also took the opportunity to defend his executive orders after facing criticism by people who suggested he was taking executive action to avoid the legislative process.

As the POTUS, who signed over forty executive orders in less than two weeks following his inauguration, insisted, he is “not making new law” but merely “eliminating bad policy.”

“I want to make it clear. There’s a lot of talk, with good reason, about the number of executive orders that I sign. I’m not making new law, I’m eliminating bad policy,” Biden said.
