A video of President Joe Biden quickly went viral on social media as he said ‘end of quote’ during his speech on Tuesday.
The edited clip made it seem like the 79-year-old was reading from a teleprompter and that he accidentally read the words ‘end of quote.’
However, the full video of his speech shows the president saying ‘end of quote’ to make sure that his speech was properly attributed.
“And, by the way, you may have heard the CEO of Walmart yesterday on the steps we’ve taken.point 189 | He said, and I quote, ‘The combination of private enterprise and government working together has been really successful.point 294 |
’ He went on to say, ‘All the way through the supply chain, there’s … a lot of innovation.point 80 | ’ Because of the actions we’ve taken, things have begun to change.point 139 | End of quote.point 150 | ”point 153 | 1
According to Daily Mail, the only mistake Biden appears to make is that he mentioned ‘end of quote’ after adding in the line ‘because of the action we’ve taken, things have begun to change’ instead of saying it immediately after he finished quoting the CEO of Walmart.
During his speech, the president reassured Americans about the state of the economy, referencing parents who are “asking will there be enough food we can afford to buy for the holidays.
“Will we be able to get Christmas presents to the kids on time and if so, will they cost me an arm and a leg?”
Biden continued: “Right now, I will do what needs to be done to reduce the price you pay at the pump.
“Families can rest easy – grocery stores are well-stocked with turkey and everything else you need for Thanksgiving.”
His speech lasted for more than 11 minutes but he did not entertain questions from White House reporters.
