Joe Biden has officially won the Electoral College vote and is ready to address the nation following his victory.
On Monday, just before 5:30 pm EST, the President-Elect has been officially declared as California’s Electoral College votes helped Biden cross the 270-votes threshold required to assert his win.
Following the announcement, the President-Elect is set to address the nation in a speech revolving around democracy and the current crisis that America is facing.
According to the reports, the address will take place at 7:30 pm EST whereas the speech will be delivered by Biden from Wilmington, Delaware.
“In this battle for the soul of America, democracy prevailed,” Biden is set to say in his address to the nation according to the excerpts of the speech released by his transition team.
“We the people voted. Faith in our institutions held. The integrity of our elections remains intact. And so, now it is time to turn the page. To unite. To heal.”
“If anyone didn’t know it before, we know it now. What beats deep in the hearts of the American people is this: democracy. The right to be heard. To have your vote counted. To choose the leaders of this nation. To govern ourselves,” the President-Elect will add.
“In America, politicians don’t take power — the people grant it to them. The flame of democracy was lit in this nation a long time ago. And we now know that nothing — not even a pandemic —or an abuse of power — can extinguish that flame.”
In the latter comment, Biden is clearly referring to Donald Trump’s continuous election fraud allegations and attempts to overturn the election results.
Following the official Electoral College vote, the results are set to be received and approved by Congress on January 6.
