What if humans were able to age backwards?
Would you want to begin life as an elderly person, and become younger and younger as time went on?
Well, that’s not exactly what happened to this particular newborn baby in Magura, Bangladesh, but when he was born, he looked like an 80-year-old man!

One medic who has been treating the child stated:
“The baby does not look like a newborn at all.”

This child had an extreme rare aging disorder called HGPS, or Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome, which affects only one in 4 to 8 million people. People with HGPS often have narrow, shrunken or wrinkled faces, and usually experience baldness and loss of eyebrows and eyelashes.

Most progeria patients are short, have small jaws, dry, scaly skin and a limited range of motion. These are the reasons why they look physically older. This child even had a layer of long, thick hair on his back!
They also have much short life expectancies, due to complications with the disorder – some people do live up to their 20’s.
The miraculous story of this baby, the child of Biswajit and Parul Patro, is becoming viral and bringing more awareness to HGPS. Curious neighbors come by and pay them frequent visits to see the “real-life Benjamin Button.”
Although the newborn will continue to need special medical attention, his parents are extremely hopeful. The father, Biswajit, says:
“We can only thank God. There is no need to be unhappy about the appearance of my son. We will accept him the way he is. We are so happy to have a baby boy in the house.”
