A bellboy never has to work again after a rich hotel guest left him a fortune in his will.
Taskin Dasdan from Turkey inherited a substantial sum of money from a wealthy British tourist named Charles George Courtney after he looked after him many times.
The elderly holidaymaker, who also paid for the education of Taskin’s children, would visit the Korur De Lux hotel once a year and stay in room 401, which staff would call ‘Charlie’s room.’
Taskin, who has worked at the hotel since 1990, was left brokenhearted when he learned about his friend’s passing earlier this year but he was shocked when he found out that he was in his will.
In an interview with the Bayez Gazete, Taskin said: “At the hotel, we treat everyone equally, we treat them as family, not as tourists.
“We got a phone call from England after Charles passed saying that he had left us a large share of his inheritance.”
Taskin made the elderly man feel like part of the family – something he does with all their guests.
He said that Charles also left cash to other hotel staff in his will but Taskin was given the biggest share.
Despite receiving a huge sum of money, Taskin said he still wants to work as a bellboy because he loves what he’s doing. He also enjoys meeting new people from different parts of the world.
Charles, whose age has not been confirmed, passed away on an unspecified date this year. The amount of money he left for Taskin has not been disclosed.
