Beachgoers in California have been caught on camera refusing free face masks and calling the pandemic a lie as two YouTubers set out on a mission to distribute as many masks as possible for free.
As Chad Kroeger and JT Parr explained in their video, they brought their own supply of face masks to Huntington Beach in Orange County, where wearing face coverings in public spaces is mandated, and offered them to beachgoers for free.
During their experiment, however, the pair soon found out that many people refused their offer and even threatened to fight them over it.
Among other replies they were faced with, the YouTubers recorded people calling the pandemic a lie and insisting that the masks are “killing us.”
“We are here at Huntington Beach to solve the mask shortage. As you can see, no one here has a mask, but we brought our own supply to fix the problem,” one of the YouTubers said in their video.
From there, the pair approached dozens of beachgoers, most of whom refused the idea of wearing a face mask and shared thoughts of their own.
“They’re killing us… I don’t know if anybody has ever explained to you that breathing your own carbon monoxide is not healthy,” one of the beachgoers responded when asked why she wouldn’t want a free face mask.
“It’s a bull**it lie. Go **** yourselves,” one man responded after the pair offered him a free mask “because there’s this thing called coronavirus.”
Eventually, the YouTubers also came across a man on a bike who appeared very agitated by their proposal and stopped to speak his mind.
“You’re not making my fu**ing rights and not my rights first of all,” he shouted at the pair who explained they were just trying to hand out masks for free.
“I don’t give a fu** what you’re trying to do. You believe in a mask, I don’t … Fu**ing leave it alone or if you want some of me come on and get this.”
