The second-largest bank of the country allegedly snooped through data of anyone making purchases in Washington or around the area before and after the Capitol riots before handing over the information of more than 200 innocent people, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson reported.

According to Fox, only 1 of the 211 BoA customers was brought in for questioning.

Feds reportedly asked the bank for information on customers who made credit or debit card purchases in and around DC, reserved Airbnbs and hotels in the capital, made airline reservations within the timeframe surrounding the riots, and visited weapon stores.

BoA customers and non-customers are taking to Twitter to announce that they are closing their accounts and urging others to do the same.

One person wrote: “if you’re a Bank of America customer and you were in Washington DC on January 5 and bought a muffin, they along with the FBI, rummaged through your bank account to see if you were a domestic terrorist. Does it seem like overreach to you? Legal?”

Another wrote: “I just called Bank of America and cancelled my credit card. My mother-in-law did the same. BA does not care, but if 1,000 people did….”

A third added: “Our freedom eroding one step at a time. We all better wake up. #McCarthysim #lookitup. Bank of America handed over customer data to feds following Capitol riot.”
