A five-month-old baby tragically died after being left in a car for several hours.
26-year-old Madison Cassidy Moore was charged with involuntary manslaughter after she left her child in a car for hours.
Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a statement that police were called to a home in Statesville for a child in respiratory distress.
When officers arrived, Iredell County EMS and Troutman Fire were already on the scene.
Sadly, the baby was pronounced dead. An autopsy found that environmental hyperthermia was the cause of death.
According to a police statement, Moore told police that she had left her baby in the car for several hours.
She was charged with felony involuntary manslaughter and is now being held at the Iredell County Detention on a $75,000 bond.
One person commented: “It is an agonizing, torturous death to kill a baby this way. They don’t just go to sleep or pass out and simply die. Their organs boil. The intestines rupture. They sweat and they scream while their heart beats irregularly. It is unconscionable and people that do this should be shown no mercy from the law.”
Another wrote: “I don’t care who you are or what you do…. there is no way in hell you forget you have a kid in the car.”
A third added: “The more I see stories like this, the more I wish having children were not that easy. Too many careless people with children who are putting them in danger or killing them.”
Someone else said: “It’s about time they started arresting these people, I refuse to call them parents.”
