A newborn baby’s decapitated head fell on the floor after it was ripped from its body during botched childbirth in Brazil.
Authorities are investigating the incident after doctors forced the mother to give birth naturally even though she had been advised to undergo a cesarean section, The Sun reported.
The devastating incident happened at the Santa Casa de Misericordia hospital in Brazil. The mother’s relatives said to local media that the 26-year-old woman had been advised to undergo a c-section due to health problems with the unborn child.
The woman’s husband said to local media: “The doctor from Ourem sent her to Belem with a paper saying the baby could only be born if she were operated on.”
She waited for more than three hours before she was finally taken to the delivery room where doctors made her give birth naturally.
“They didn’t listen and kept telling her to push,” the heartbroken husband expressed.
“They pushed so hard that the head came into the nurse’s hand and then fell to the floor.
“They only operated afterward to remove the rest of the body.”
A friend of the woman said to officers that the delivery room was full of doctors and nurses who saw everything.
The friend added that nurses detected the baby’s heartbeat but one of the doctors allegedly said that the child was already dead in the womb.
The mother was sedated before being operated on to remove the child’s body.
Her husband said that his wife knows their child passed away but doesn’t yet know how.
