Dylan, a nine-year-old autistic and deaf boy with no friends received over 700 birthday cards from people all across the globe after his mother put out an appeal on social media site.
33-year-old Natasha James sent out a desperate call to people on Facebook to see if anyone could send her son some birthday cards. Surprisingly, on his ninth birthday, Dylan received 714 birthday cards.
Natasha said that the response from strangers is entirely overwhelming. She said that her son spent most of the time opening the birthday cards.
She filmed the joyous moment and posted it on social media, appreciating and thanking people for the kind gesture.
Dylan is suffering from a complex medical issue. He has been out of school for more than a year now as his condition is getting worse.
He lost touch with his friends because he was seeking treatment for nine months in London.
So, it has become a little too harsh on Dylan to cope with daily life. His mum is doing everything to cheer him up. After the appeal from his mother, Dylan received birthday cards from people, from as far as Australia and Las Vegas, amid coronavirus outbreak.
Dylan’s mom said that he doesn’t understand why he cannot go outside the house. He is autistic and doesn’t know what is going around the world. He won’t understand. This made him vulnerable, as there is no social interaction.
Natasha said that she though due to the virus outbreak, people won’t be sending out gifts and cards. But it was overwhelming to see the response from people from all around the globe.
She said that the gifts and cards continue to turn up and this has really charged up little Dylan and has given him hope that there is still some goodness left in this world.
