17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse from Kenosha, Wisconsin, is facing five felony charges, including first-degree reckless homicide and first-degree intentional homicide, after wounding 26-year-old Gaige Grosskreutz and fatally shooting 26-year-old Anthony Huber and 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum.

Lashing back at the charges and branding them false, one of the teen’s attorneys claimed the 17-year-old acted in self-defense after getting “attacked” by Black Lives Matter protesters.

“I think any average citizen would know self-defense when they see it,” attorney Lin Wood said in an interview with Fox News.

“This young man was attacked. He was attacked with what was clearly lethal force. He had the right to defend himself.”

As the attorney also suggested, Americans shouldn’t be afraid to exercise their right to self-defense.

“It’s important that the message be clear to other Americans who are attacked that there will be legal resources available in the event false charges are brought against them,” Wood told Associated Press.

As Rittenhouse’s other attorney, John Pierce, vowed, the 17-year-old’s legal team will “obtain justice for Kyle no matter how hard the fight or how long it takes.”

The attorney’s comments follow as fresh footage that shows the moment Rittenhouse shot Grosskreutz with his AR-15 rifle has surfaced.

In the video, the teen, who was sitting on the ground after tripping over, is seen shooting Grosskreutz in the arm after the 26-year-old approached him with a handgun and appeared to have attempted to reach towards the 17-year-old.

While Grosskreutz was legally carrying a gun due to Wisconsin being an open-carry state, Rittenhouse committed a class A misdemeanor due to the law making it illegal for minors to carry firearms.
