Saarinen told The New York Post: “We’re living in a time where people are ready to undergo serious and sometimes dangerous surgeries to make their butt look like hers – all in the name of likes.

“Her ass is probably one of the most recognized and talked-about symbols born out of Instagram.”

‘Her butt is a driving force behind the attention economy,’ he added to Office. ‘This piece redistributes attention by offering the wearer a fair chance of getting their 15 minutes.’

Jonsson added: “It is just as much a celebration of a woman who managed to create a multimillion-dollar brand based on her butt.”

The creators are trying to lessen the weight of the shorts which currently stands at a massive three kilograms. They will make it available in the market in limited numbers later this spring. ‘The Bum’ will cost between $450 (£345) and $600 (£460). Speaking to the publication.

Karlsson said: “It’s our mission as artists and thinkers to question – and sometimes highlight – the changing demands that surround us in order to start a discussion.”

The first models of The Bum are made of silicone, the artists say the final version will like to be a blend of silicone, spandex, and microfiber.

Karlsson added: “We will probably use a mix of silicone, spandex and microfiber, but we’ve not fully decided on how the product will be materialised yet.”

Jonsson and Simon began working on The Bum two years ago. ”When we’d figured out the look and dimensions, we reached out to a 3D artist specialized in photorealistic 3D rendering,” Saarinen told Vice last year.

”After going through all of our material, he made rendering her bum his full time for a couple of weeks. Finally, we had to decide what underwear she should wear and went for a classic Yeezy-esque all beige thong.”
