Mr. Edwards, speaking on Good Morning Britain, said: ‘Stands up with the Diana interview, it’s as big as that. Everything we thought of the royals came true, and this is the same.

‘Nobody bothered them in six weeks in Canada and I think that was a lot for them. I could see this coming.

‘I thought the way they behaved on a tour you could see it coming. Normally, after a tour we’d all go for a drink to the pub and Harry would pick up the bill but this time he issued a writ!

They also said they will become ‘financially independent’ while continuing to support the queen.
Their sudden decision was taken without discussing it with their family. A senior royal source said the Queen and her family were ‘deeply disappointed’.

The veteran photographer added: ‘When he says he was persecuted by the press, not one pic was published about them during their break. This has divided the royal family – and I think Harry’s doing what he’s told personally.

‘I’m sad he’s going, every tour he’s been on has been fun. And the way he interacted with the children on our most recent trip, it’s sad we won’t see much more of him. I won an award for that picture of him at the school in Luton.

‘Before Harry met Meghan they were [brothers] were very close. I fell in love with my wife, it didn’t change my life. I just think it’s really sad what’s happening.’
