Sir Walter Benjamin, in his celebrated work The Work of Art in the Age of Industry, has aptly said that the mechanical representation of the art forms will eventually devalue the aura of an artwork. Probably, the genius mind was able to foresee the future of the artists, when their creations will be stolen, without their knowledge and will be passed as someone else’s creation. Unfortunately, today it is not only the individuals alone, but even the leading brands and companies like Forever21, Disney or New Look, who encourage plagiarising an artwork unhesitatingly.
Take, for instance, the case of artist Tuesday Bassen, who discovered that the Spanish retailer, Zara was using all her designs, without her consent or credits.
Here is a list of people, who had similar experiences, but have been caught red-handed by the artists.
