The FBI has now issued an arrest warrant for Gabby Petito’s boyfriend Brian Laundrie.
According to the Bureau, Laundrie, who has remained a person of interest after his girlfriend Gabby Petito went missing and was found dead, used a credit card that wasn’t his following the van-life girl’s disappearance.
The FBI has since issued an arrest warrant for Laundrie over his “unauthorized” use of a Capitol One Bank card between August 30 and September 1.
As the agency confirmed, the 23-year-old man used the debit card after Petito’s death in order to purchase items worth more than $1,000.
The FBI also explained that the arrest warrant issued for Laundrie allows their partners across the country to arrest the young man for “use of unauthorized access device.”
Meanwhile, the Bureau reassured the public that Petito’s homicide and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death remain under investigation.
“While this warrant allows law enforcement to arrest Mr Laundrie, the FBI and our partners across the country continue to investigate the facts and circumstances of Ms. Petito’s homicide,” the Bureau confirmed in a statement.
“We urge individuals with knowledge of Mr Laundrie’s role in this matter or his current whereabouts to contact the FBI.
“No piece of information is too small or inconsequential to support our efforts in this investigation.”
Petito went missing during a cross-country trip she was on together with Laundrie, her boyfriend and fiancée. Shortly after September 11 when Petito was reported missing, Laundrie disappeared after refusing to cooperate with the investigation.
Laundrie was last seen last week when he talked to his parents and his lawyer. Since then, Laundrie has disappeared, whereas the FBI confirmed that Petito died by homicide after her body was found in Wyoming.
