our pets or wildlife and we absolutely love to hear about stories of animals being rescued. When we heard about this story we just knew we had to share it!

Earlier this year, right around the fourth of July as fate would have it, Jason Galvin and his neighbors noticed something strange up in a tall tree. An eagle had its leg caught in a rope about 70 feet in the air and it was hanging upside down.

Originally everyone believed the eagle was dead, but upon closer inspection with binoculars they realized that the eagle was very much alive and breathing. Shocked, they immediately called the fire department, the police and even the DNR. Unfortunately, they all had the same response: they knew about it but were unable to help. Due to safety measures none of them were able to do anything for the two and a half days the eagle had already been trapped up there.

Jason’s wife wasn’t about to let the poor eagle die. She convinced her husband to get his rifle and shoot the rope so the eagle could be rescued. Jason Galvin was an army veteran who had served two tours in Afghanistan. He had the experience needed for this impossible task. She was confident that her husband would be able to do it..

Jason agreed, but was concerned about how he would do it. He wasn’t going to risk shooting the bird, but with the rope only 4 inches long, it was going to be a tough shot. After getting approval from the DNR, Jason began to work at getting the stranded eagle down. He was determined to save this eagle.

After two hours and some 150 shots, Jason finally did it. The eagle was saved.
