In a tragic accident, three soldiers were killed in the base of Georgia while on the drill.
They were inside a tank when they were crossing a bridge but accidentally the tank fell off from the bridge upside and landed straight on the bed of the river running under it.
The exit door of the tank got trapped and due to it, the soldiers were unable to get out of the vehicle.
Maj. Gen. Antonio Aguto had to struggle to hold back his tears while he read out the names of the deceased soldiers at the press conference.
Sgt. 1st Class Bryan Jenkins, 41years old, from Gainesville, Florida; Pfc. Antonio Garcia, 21years old, from Peoria, Arizona, Cpl.
Thomas Walker, 22 years old, from Conneaut, Ohio; all died in while they were out on practice before dawn. It was dark and they must have missed the bridge and the accident happened. Three others were injured in the accident too.
Aguto said, “6 soldiers were out on practice early in the morning in a Bradley fighting vehicle when the accident happened.”
The families of the soldiers are heartbroken as two of the three were just so young.
Thomas Walker was a married man and on his death, his wife could not keep the sorrow in and decided to write to the world.
“I am the happiest woman on the planet to have met you. You were my soul mate, the love of my life, my best friend.
I had never thought that this day would come when I would have to live without you but it is here and I have never been so heartbroken. You were my hero and you will always be my hero. You will always be in my heart.”
