As scientists and epidemiologists warned during the first apex of the Covid-19 pandemic, the dreaded second wave of infections are once again affecting all regions.

As more than 25% of the British population are in lockdown, a crowd of 15,000 gathered in London to protest lockdowns.

These protestors filled the iconic Trafalgar Square although the London police urged that the protestors refrain from gathering in such crowd sizes. However, crowds of protestors carrying signs that read ‘is this freedom’ and ‘end the crazy rules’ walked through central London.

Some of the faces who showed up to the square were recognizable figures. 73 year old Piers Corbyn, brother of British politician Jeremy Corbyn, was joined by 68 year old David Icke. Icke has gained notoriety for claiming that the Covid-19 virus was somehow related with 5G technology.

As they shouted chants such as “we will win”, the protestors unsurprisingly were not wearing masks. The London police tried to subdue the situation by attempting to dismiss the crowd, citing the violation of social distancing measures in the process.

As the protests continued into the day, the altercations between the police and the protestors worsened. At one point, a woman who was in the crowd seemed like she fell to the ground after a physical skirmish broke out between the crowd and the police.

In an official statement by the Scotland Yard, the British law enforcement agency said that the protestors were being extremely reckless for both themselves and for others. This is exactly the situation that the officials wished to avoid as the cases once again spike in the UK.

The number of new infections in Britain speak for themselves. On September 25th, the number of new patients renewed all previous records with 6,873 new cases. 18 million Britons will now be placed in a stronger quarantine to prevent the worst case scenario.

This protest was far from the only one organized by those who oppose stronger lockdowns. Just last week, a similar group of protestors gathered and said they will resist mandatory Covid vaccinations even when they become available. More than 2 dozen protestors were arrested as they clashed with police.
