“We Don’t Need Anti-American Athletes… Remove Her Immediately”- US Olympian Gets Harsh Backlash After ‘Disrespecting’ The Flag


A Congressman from the US is calling out American Olympian Gwen Berry for disrespecting the flag during the national anthem at a sports trials event recently.

Berry received harsh criticism from across the board as she reportedly disrespected the American flag by turning her back as the US national anthem played in the background. Moreover, many even went to the extent of calling her an activist athlete who didn’t deserve a spot on the American olympian team for her harsh stance on a bold move.

Berry reportedly stood on the podium during her hammer throw medal awards ceremony, an event that was a part of the trials at the US Olympics on Saturday. However, she left so many viewers speechless as she walked away and turned her back as a means of protest, while the American national anthem played in the background.

While there were definitely a group of people who supported her stance on the matter, many criticized her behavior, claiming how she disrespected the American nation and the US flag.

In addition, Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw was also a part of the bunch of critics who blasted the US Olympian for acting this way, demanding she is barred immediately from competing and representing the country in the upcoming mega Olympic Games event, which is scheduled to be held in Tokyo.

“We certainly do not need any more activist athletes, she must be removed from the team immediately,” he added. “The whole point of a team is to proudly represent the US,” he explained further.

Crenshaw also went on to state how protesting at events like the Olympics was just not cool, referring to it as one step too far.

“Players like these must be removed immediately, this is the Olympic team! Believing in the country’s flag should be an absolute minimum requirement for all athletes that intend to take part,” he concluded.
